Situated right on the sea front in Sandown in a spectacular
building shaped like a giant pterosaur (the bat like masters of the
Cretaceous sky), Dinosaur Isle is the country's only purpose-built
dinosaur museum. Dinosaur Isle celebrates the Isle of Wight's
exciting geological past in an indoor all-weather attraction that
features life-sized model dinosaurs set on a recreated landscape.
There are many hands on activities to try and visitors can watch as
the experts work on the latest fossil finds, there is an activities
room that in term time caters for schools and during the holidays
for families. Guided fossil hunts, which must be pre booked, have
proved to be a popular addition to a visit.
