FIRST CLASS TICKETS
What are they?
Many train services offer First Class accommodation as well as
Standard. In these cases First Class Anytime tickets will be
available and for some services First Class Off-Peak and Advance
tickets may also be available.
Some train companies offer passengers with Standard tickets to
upgrade to First Class for an additional fee - see below for
details.
Is it for me?
Whether you're travelling for business or pleasure, First Class
provides you with a comfortable and spacious environment where you
can take time out and relax.
When can I buy?
First Class Anytime and Off-Peak tickets can be purchased at any
time, either in advance or on the day of travel. First Class
Advance tickets can only be purchased in advance of travel.

Upgrades to First Class
What are they?
If you hold a Standard ticket and are travelling on a service
that offers First Class, you can upgrade your ticket on payment of
an additional fee.
On some longer distance journeys a Weekend First upgrade ticket
allows you to upgrade on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays for a
flat fee. All upgrades are subject to availability and specific
terms and conditions apply.
When can I buy?
You can upgrade your ticket to First Class any time before you
travel.
Weekend First upgrades are generally only available on board the
train and are subject to availability.
