OFF-PEAK TICKETS

offpeake

What are they?

Off-Peak tickets can be used for travel at times when trains are generally less busy (off-peak) - usually any time after the morning and evening rush hour on weekdays. These ticket types are cheaper than Anytime tickets for the same journey. On some routes you may be able to get an even cheaper ticket called Super Off-Peak, which may have more restrictions but offers even greater savings.

Is it for me?

Yes, if you're able to make your journey outside of peak travel hours.

What about restrictions?

The restrictions on an Off-Peak or Super Off-Peak ticket will depend on the journey you are making. The restrictions may require you to travel at specific times of the day, days of the week and sometimes on specific routes or operators. Any restrictions on travel will be advised when you buy your ticket.

When can I buy?

Off-Peak tickets can be purchased at any time, either in advance or on the day of travel.

What discounts can I get?

If you have a Railcard or Gold Card you could get up to 1/3 off your Off-Peak ticket, subject to the restrictions of the Railcard/Gold Card.

For full terms and conditions of an Off-Peak ticket see the National Rail website.
